My impulsive and enjoyable habit of beer drinking started when I was 4 years old. My mother brewed Ginger Beer and kept it ready to bottle in the Pantry (old English for Larder) and told me not to touch it! . . . . . well say "Don't touch it" to an inquisitive 4 year old and it's like gift wrapping it and pouring it straight in his Gob! The upshot of that misplaced verbal order was enough to get me started in my serious life long quest to sample every Beer on the Planet.
I don't think her version of Ginger Beer was alcoholic but that didn't matter at the age of 4, just the sheer adrenalin created by doing something naughty was Buzz enough.
